A lease takeover means you replace the original tenant entirely — the landlord signs you onto the lease and the original tenant walks away. Common when students are graduating mid-cycle, transferring schools, or moving abroad. Cleaner than subleases because there’s no middle-tenant, and usually 6-12 month terms.
